Thinking out of the box

Pork bites on handlesMy stylist Michael Giletto came over for what my wife calls “a play date.” He had some ideas that he wanted to work on and I just love shooting so, I was game for anything. Anything that is, until he started to explain his idea. He went shopping in Home Depot for this one.

He wanted to put pork on door knobs. I smiled and said “sure” and listened to his idea. It sounded insane but, creatives often are so, we went with it.

Well, I think its the most creative thing that either of us ever came up with. It only got tweaked a little from the original concept. Most of the effort was spent on the reflection in the knob.

Here are some other shots we did that day. A really productive day if I do say so myself.steak and dome

About Jerry

I was a science teacher for 31 years. During that time I photographed wedding and Bar Mitzvahs for about 15 years but that was in the days before digital. Being a teacher, I had my summers free so I assisted food and commercial still life photographers in NYC for 3 summers and fell in love with it. Having a wife and a mortgage, it was not practical to give up a job in teaching and go into photography so I put off my dream of becoming a food photographer until I retired from teaching. Now I am living my dream - I am a food and product photographer servicing New York City, Philadelphia and all of New Jersey.
