I received an e-mail from Vicki DeVico, a fellow photographer, that there is a photo contest for food photography and she knew that I photographed food. I checked it out and submitted a photo entitled “Fruit Tart”. The photo was taken for Chef George Kyrtatas of the Sweet Water Bar and Grill in Cinnaminson, NJ.
The first portion of the competition was public voting so, I asked my Facebook friends, photo club members, friends and relatives and everyone I could think of to vote for my photo…and they did. I made it into the top 15, the cutoff for the first round. Now it was up to the chefs and sommeliers of ITQI – the International Taste and Quality Institute in Belgium to select five finalists. The five selected photos will be on exhibit at A TABLE exhibition in Brussels in May. My Photo was selected and now I can say that I am an “award winning photographer.” Woo Hoo.
I just love food photography. I want to thank Chef George Kyrtatas for providing such wonderful subjects for me to photograph and allowing me to use them for the competition. I would also like to thank Lou Manna for getting me started in this field – your seminars really made the difference and got me going.
